Diary of Dreams

When a seven-track release seems to go on forever, it is not a good sign for the artist, or listener. Frankly, this album is soul-sucking and the worst offender; "Haus der Stille” possesses the excitement and energy of a diabetic coma. Plagued with generic sounding tracks, even "Treibsand,” the best song on the album, borders on being typical in Metropolis’ marching beat and "poor me” vocals sort of way. The only plus to the disc lays in the great backdrop of horror-based synth sounds, and the atmosphere of this release is complex and dark. In fact, Diary of Dreams would make excellent composers for dark film. Unfortunately, their sound is far too drawn-out to be interesting on its own.
