The obscurity factor involved with the 1960s garage psych group the Deviants is so high, they make the term seem friendly, like your next door neighbour. Led by Mick Farren, the English troupe constantly changed their sound, which is anywhere from early Pink Floyd, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, or Bon Scott-era AC/DC in an atomic and mutated manner. That wakka-wakka porno psychedelic guitar can thrust one minute and then the next herald a barrage of screams and wailing not unlike the 13th Floor Elevators. This compilation is a testament to madness and raw rawk, and validation by the likes of guests such as Wayne Kramer, Chrissie Hynde and Marky Ramone should set the legend straight.
