After the success of Deniz Kurtel's first full-length, Music Watching Over Me, on Crosstown Rebels, the trend-setting Turkish artist releases 12 collaborative tracks with the Marcy All Stars on Wolf+Lamb. Wolf+Lamb label heads and producers were originally known for throwing legendary underground parties at NYC's Marcy Hotel. Formerly a residence, the nightclub turned creative space spawned numerous collaborations and also housed Nicolas Jaar's first performance. The contributors on Kurtel's latest are a tightly knit crew of friends mostly associated with this space, hence the name. Highlights from The Way We Live include a fun remake of Milli Vanilli's "Girl You Know It's True," with Kurtel and Gadi Mizrahi (one half of Wolf+Lamb) creating a sultry slow-jam out of the pop classic. Toronto, ON Art Department member Kenny Glascow delivers more of his melancholic vocals on "Don't Wanna Be." Life & Death label partner and party professional Thugfucker and San Francisco trio PillowTalk deliver two of the strongest tracks with their sexy R&B methods and soft rap vocals. Deniz Kurtel turns house music on its head by slowing things down and weaving in array of genres and stylistic approaches.
