Deeplust

Deeplust

The Riot Grrrl movement may have inadvertently given us the Spice Girls, but it also gave us a hell of a lot of releases that sound like Deeplust, and a wack of it has been released by Kill Rock Stars. Allison Wolfe's Bratmobile pedigree is apparent in this debut release of Poly Styrene influenced pop-punk, which boasts quite meagre production quality considering this was recorded in an actual studio. High-energy performances and irreverence mark this disc's highpoint, but it seems to be unable to rise above the clichés of the "I'm a girl, hear me scream" genre.
