While Ween fans are likely still reeling at this summer's news that the band are kaput, they can take some solace in the fact that Dean Ween (aka Mickey Melchiondo) has already started work on his debut solo album.
According to a post on his recently launched "Ask Deaner" site, the artist has been demoing his new album on a daily basis since August.
"I am on a mission to try and make a truly classic album and haven't been so focused and driven in many years," he wrote. "The music will speak for itself when it's released next year, to my ears and those people whose opinions matter it is pretty damn smokin'."
If all goes as planned, Melchiondo will head to Los Angeles in January to record the album with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme acting as producer.
Homme will also play in Melchiondo's backing band, which includes Nick Olivieri, Guy Heller, Joe Kramer, Andrew Weiss and many others.
For now, fans can check out some images of Melchiondo trying out some tracks in his own recording studio here .
