Darkthrone

"Leave No Cross Unturned"

Darkthrone have been toying with the tunes on their upcoming The Underground Resistance since 2010, but the long-running Norwegian metal act will finally give up the goods February 26 via Peaceville Records. Over a month before that due date, though, the duo of Fenriz and Nocturno Culto are now streaming their horns-raising new number "Leave No Cross Unturned."

Fenriz previously explained that the songs he wrote for the set were "torn from the wombs of the riders of rohan of metal, safely cradled in 1985 style," and his operatic, tongue-twisting falsetto vocals on "Leave No Cross Unturned" certainly befit his description.

At first, the track motors by with classic thrash pacing, but the slowed-down back-half gets much meaner, pushing doomy power chord progressions and To Mega Therion-aping grunts through the speakers. You can sample the whole thing down below.
