With Record Store Day just around the corner on April 19, Toronto post-rockers the Darcys have shared their contribution to the annual celebration: their Hymn for a Missing Girl is available to stream now.
The project consists of a single 22-minute suite, which has been broken up into five movements. It's entirely instrumental, and it flows from solemn harmonies to horrifying passages of atonal noisemaking to snaky electronic beats to pounding crescendos before culminating in a mournful comedown. The project was inspired by Cormac McCarthy's Cities of the Plain.
Hear it below. The piece will be available on vinyl for Record Store Day through Arts & Crafts.
