French robot duo Daft Punk had a stellar year thanks to their Random Access Memories album, which just so happened to take the cake as Exclaim!'s dance & electronic album of the year. Now, they've previewed another high-concept video from the release.
The next single to get the film treatment is the excellent "Instant Crush," featuring suave vocals from the Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas. The duo posted a still from the clip on their Facebook page, which showcases Casablancas as a toy action figure (see above).
A Daft Punk fan group also captured footage from a French news program that features some small snippets of the clip, with Casablancas being very Casablancas as he delivers his lyrics in a spotlight, wearing a vintage rocker leather jacket and boasting some shaggy hair. Those shots are interspersed with footage of Casablancas the doll, facing off with another princess doll.
It's probably better just to check out the clip below. Bonus points, too, if you can speak French and figure out what the newscasters are saying.
