Curren$y Delivers Live-Instrument Album 'The Muscle Car Chronicles'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 15, 2012

Last week, rapper Curren$y treated his fans to a free digital EP called Here, but it looks as if the spitter has more surprises in store, as he unexpectedly dropped a new collaborative album yesterday (February 14) called Sean O'Connell Presents: The Muscle Car Chronicles, Featuring Curren$y.

Produced and arranged by musician Sean O'Connell, the new nine-song set, released through Damon Dash's BluRoc label, swaps samples for live instrumentation, with players including O'Connell, former Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen and Robert E. Corrigan, Jr.

Curren$y has been sitting on the tracks for some time now, with recording sessions having taken place in New York in 2010. You can download album opener "Soundbombin'" here via Pitchfork and check out a video trailer compiling some studio footage down below.

While the main attraction is the Curren$y collaboration, a second disc of instrumental jams by O'Connell is also included.
