Cuica

Music is life for Cuica, and it shows. For starters, the South London duo derive their name from a Brazilian drum and the title of their debut full-length, City to City, is a reference to their busy DJ touring schedules. Then there are track titles like "Meierising Pt 1" that pay homage to their favourite club in Austria. The music itself is an understated patchwork of Brazilian and house influences: smooth, exotic grooves suited equally to the lounge room as they are to the dance floor. City to City bustles with vibrant tribal rhythms yet offers some interesting twists along the way, like the sudden tempo shift of "Trommel Monster" and the luxurious, chilled-out closer "Slipping Away."
