This week, classic Canadian metal terrorists Cryptopsy issue the next chapter in their ever-evolving, always punishing career: The Book of Suffering Tome 1. The crowd-funded EP officially opens up on Friday (October 30), but you can get wrecked by the collection right now through an online stream.
Already, we'd been blasted by the ominous and tech-geared opening track "Detritus (the one they kept)." Now, you can be gutted by the insane and relentlessly thrashed "The Knife, the Head and What Remains," which pokes and prods with high-speed snare drum, blitzed riffs and growls galore.
The remaining cuts, "Halothane Glow" and "Framed by Blood," are likewise vicious, though Cryptopsy manage to sneak in trilled melodies into the mix.
