Crib

Remnant

BY Craig DunsmuirPublished Jun 1, 2002

At the gloomier end of the drone/classical crossroads, bassist Devin Sarno's Crib seems to lean towards the elemental for its inspiration. Booming wind storms, wisps of violin floating away breezily, field recordings of cars and airplanes whizzing past and overhead in the distance, clanging metal and crackling radio interference all figure prominently in this album's three suite-like pieces. Although the synth treatments and choral hints verge on new age territory at times, if weighty soundscapes are what you're after, this should do the trick.
