Coldplay have been forced to cancel their Brazilian shows as singer Chris Martin battles a "serious lung infection."
An announcement from the band explains, "Due to a serious lung infection, Chris has been put under strict doctor's orders to rest for the next three weeks."
This consists of seven shows in total — two in Rio de Janeiro and five in São Paulo. Coldplay are currently due to return to the stage on October 26 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Coldplay don't yet have any Canadian shows on their tour in support of last year's Music of the Spheres. Martin was recently in the news thanks to the revelation that he had influenced Nick Cave to change the arrangement of the song "Waiting for You."
