Three years on from releasing the album/short film tandem Neuroplasticity, Cold Specks (a.k.a Ladan Hussein) has lifted the curtain on her third full-length LP. Titled Fool's Paradise, Hussein's latest arrives through Arts & Crafts on September 22.

A press release describes Fool's Paradise as Hussein's most personal Cold Specks work yet, capturing "the sound of finding home, identity, and self-love" as a Somali-Canadian woman. While touring Neuroplasticity, she discovered her father's musical legacy in founding a band named Iftin during the 1970s through watching VHS recordings.

"My parents never talked much about life in Mogadishu growing up," she wrote, "the war split up my family, scattered them around the world, left many missing, and those that made it were forever changed."

Hussein has also shared the record's title track, which finds her singing in Somali to Araweelo, a semi-mythical queen of female empowerment who was said to castrate male prisoners. You can hear it in the player below.

Hussein has also mapped out a world tour in support of the record. You can find the North American leg, which starts in November, listed below while the complete itinerary can be found here.
