Cold Specks (a.k.a. Al Spx) is gearing up for the much-anticipated release of her sophomore LP Neuroplasticity. Spx has already given listeners some tunes to keep us happy until the August 26 due date via Arts & Crafts/Mute, and she's just unveiled another heart-tugger titled "Bodies at Bay."
The song starts up with a steady but softened push of drums and plucked guitars, with Spx's smoky lines running humbly atop the arrangement ("who am I to complain?"). The song, however, builds up towards a slow-mo crush of cymbals, tumbling keyboard patches and skronked sax madness, this in addition to Spx's own upped-energy approach.
You'll find the stunning, quiet-loud-quiet piece down below.
