CocoRosie — the baroque pop outfit helmed by Bianca and Sierra Casady — have announced a new record due early next year. They'll deliver Put the Shine On via Marathon Artist on March 6, and today, we have the record's lead single.
Bianca Casady directed the accompanying visuals for "Smash My Head," and she has pulled out all the regular stops for CocoRosie videos. Filled with Victorian garb, dirt and grime and a healthy does of black and white shots — the Casadys have returned to form with "Smash My Head."
About the new track, the band issued the following statement:
For us, our song "Smash My Head" is a running-on-fire cry from the teenage heart, an inner scream we never dared to let out. The song climaxes in an exaltation, an expression of ecstatic death. It journeys from a hard-knock desert childhood scene to a transcendent cosmic passing to another realm
CocoRosie released another Put the Shine On track "Lamb and the Wolf" earlier this year. Their latest record was 2015's Heartache City, though they more recently collaborated with artists like Chance the Rapper for his record The Big Day and ANOHNI on "Smoke 'Em Out."
