Scottish synthpopsters Chvrches have been steadily gaining buzz over the last year, but today we get a Rage Against the Machine cover courtesy of a previous incarnation of the band.
Recorded back when frontwoman Lauren Mayberry was leading Blue Sky Archives, the cover of "Killing in the Name" is almost unrecognizable. Sweet, jangly and underscored by some sort of gently percussive maracas, it's just about the polar opposite of everything one might expect from a Rage Against the Machine track. A refrain of "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" has never sounded so cute.
