As a followup to his self-titled debut, released early last year, Chrome Sparks (Jeremy Malvin) drops in with his Be On Fire EP to ring in the New Year. Though he only has a few releases to his name (a handful of EPs and singles, and a full-length), Chrome Sparks has been touted by Pitchfork and The FADER, and toured his dreamy, patchwork electronic with the likes of Flume, Bonobo, Diplo and Odezsa.

Channelling soul legend George Smallwood, Be On Fire opens with "In2 Your Love," a lo-fi, synth-drenched track where soul meets punchy percussive electronic that still plays out as whimsical amongst the homage. As "Juno Lion" pulls up, it seems the lax gait of the album is laid down as a half-time trap beat sets in and runs across the majority of the EP. The track loads up with an incredibly gratifying and thick low end while layered synths and a dusty vocal undercurrent pull it all together.

Be On Fire is a lush followup to Malvin's self-titled debut, a soundscape begging to be explored.
