Compilation 1

BY Matthew HiscockPublished Jun 1, 2005

This record sounds normal for approximately seven seconds before everything goes screwy. Punishing yet still slightly zany, this disc is crammed full of electronic weirdness, heavy guitars, gunshots, and samples about penguins. It’s like being on a highway where every off ramp leads to a good song, but you’re going too fast to turn down one. Created by various electronic music and indie rock types scattered across the country (Burlington, Hamilton and Montréal), this is a barrage of noise that sometimes works, and sometimes doesn’t. It’s like what would happen if Skam was a metal label. Some tracks scream "edit me!” and 17 tracks is really a bit much, but one can’t help be curious to hear what these guys do outside of the confines of this whole internet malarkey.
