Christine Owman's debut three-song EP, Morning Thoughts, is not a bad showcase for her clear voice and a jumping off point for her songwriting. The Swede isn't new to the indie music scene, having spent time in a handful of local Seattle bands. Owman is, however, the latest in the young 20-something women armed with an acoustic guitar and earnest songwriting. That doesn't make the EP inherently bad, but it doesn't really stand out from the ever-growing pack. In fact, "Before and After," "Awakening" and the title track all tend to fade to the patcholi-scented background after repeated listening. Perhaps a fleshed out full-length CD will give Owman the leg room to work on more dynamic material.
