Choking Victim

Crack Rock Steady/Squatta's Paradise

BY Rob FerrazPublished Sep 1, 2001

This is a reissue of two four-song singles recorded in the mid-'90s by the now disbanded Choking Victim. Hailing from NYC, they played Operation Ivy-style ska punk, which they dubbed "crack rock steady." This is raw and real and definitely a cut above the No Doubt/Goldfinger knock-offs lurking in the CD collection of your average mall punk. They went on to release a full-length on Hellcat, and judging by the number of fan web sites dedicated to them, probably would've hit the punk scene big time had they stayed together.
