The Chills Celebrate 30th Anniversary with Live Album, Hometown New Zealand Show

When long-running New Zealand Kiwipop act the Chills turned 20, they marked the occasion with the triple-disc compilation Secret Box: The Chills' Rarities, 1980-2000. Now, their 30th anniversary is fast approaching, believe it or not, and the band are looking to celebrate by playing a special one-off show and releasing a live album.

The show will take place on November 27 at Coronation Hall in the band's hometown of Dunedin, New Zealand, following the band's official 30th anniversary this past Monday (November 15).

According to a blog post on the group's website [via Slicing Up Eyeballs], "In keeping with the era, the show is going to be an old-fashioned matinee event with just the Chills playing from 2.30 p.m." There will also be a "very, very special surprise."

At the show, the Chills will be selling copies of a brand new live album. The exact contents of disc are unknown, but there will be two rough recordings ("Motels and Cars," "I Saw Your Silhouette") from the first-ever show. The collection will be released digitally on iTunes and via Dunedinmusic.com.
