Though obscure in name, Al Jarnow has influenced millions of children and contemporaries with his vision as an animation filmmaker; the NYC-based artist created many of the most poignant and retrospectively trippy short films to appear on Sesame Street and The Electric Company since the early '70s. The breakout star of New York's experimental film community, Jarnow's respected for his anticipatory, self-taught techniques and his ability to convey profound, vivid thought simply. Along with a revealing documentary and 40-page book, Jarnow's inventive work has been compiled on Celestial Navigations: The Short Films of Al Jarnow, which empowers viewers to see things differently.
