Cardi B smashed the Billboard Hot 100 with "Bodak Yellow" earlier this year, but the track apparently moved more than just downloads with its success. According to a recent report, her hit track has upped the sale of Christian Louboutin shoes in a huge way.
Of course, Cardi references the designer's signature red soles in the chorus of "Bodak Yellow" ("These expensive / These is red bottoms / These is bloody shoes") and can be seen sporting a pair while riding a camel in the accompanying music video — and as Business of Fashion notes, sales have skyrocketed as a result.
There's been a whopping 217 percent spike in searches for the shoes online since June — exactly when the song was released.
Despite no official brand partnerships or ad campaigns with the shoemaker, Cardi is also listed as having accumulated $4.5 million USD in media value for the company.
Cardi caught wind of her reported accomplishment last night, and took to Instagram to share it — and smartly used the opportunity to try and get some free shoes out of the folks at Louboutin.
