Canadian Electronic Ensemble

Apart from the opening trio performance of the dirge-scape "LPM," this startling project features an adventurous sextet that combines five Canadian electronic artists with violist Laura Wilcox. Ranging from the fierce percussive impressionism of "Stonehenge" to the delicate lyrical miniature "Caspin's Arrival," this enthralling ensemble explores rich variations in Jim Montgomery's "Last Man Standing" that alternate between soaring dynamics and spacier interludes, as fascinating sequential exchanges evolve between samples, percussion and solo viola. This ensemble is a wonderful example of how contemporary electronic music can recombine traditional forms into fresh creative idioms at the cutting edge.
