Sackville, NB's SappyFest previously confirmed K Records founder/Beat Happening leader Calvin Johnson as one of the artists playing its 2012 event. Well, that festival gig is by no means the indie pop icon's only solo show this summer, as he'll he touring across Canada in July and August.
The outing will kick off on the West Coast with a Vancouver gig on July 14. From there, Johnson will make his way east, playing shows in the Prairies, across Ontario and Quebec, and into the Maritimes. All of the shows but SappyFest feature Katie and the Lichen.
Even though the outing kicks off in less than two weeks, a few of the venues have yet to be confirmed on the K Records website. These may turn out to be house shows, since Johnson is already playing a few of those across the nation.
See the schedule below. This tour coincides with the release of the new book Love Rock Revolution: K Records and the Rise of Independent Music, which will be out next week (July 10) through Sasquatch Books. Read about that here.
