Buried Alive

Last Rites

BY Stuart GreenPublished Jun 1, 2001

With their second record, the "other" hardcore band from Buffalo - Snapcase being the best known - have actually delivered two things at once. The first nine tracks of this 14 song collection are new studio-recorded screamers with all the requisite pissed off howling and anthemic stomping and thrashing we've come to expect from the Victory Records family. The second part of the disc is a five-song live EP recorded in New York during last year's CMJ Music Marathon. It's here we get a better sense of what makes Buried Alive tick. They're not breaking any new ground, but they do what they do earnestly, unapologetically and with skilled execution. And that more than makes up for their lack of originality
