The last we heard from Broadcast, it was business as usual for the long-running act, whose last release was a collaborative album with the Focus Group in 2009. Now, we've received the unfortunate news that vocalist Trish Keenan has been hospitalized with a life-threatening illness.
In a statement to Pitchfork, Warp Records revealed, "[Band manager] Martin [Pike] says that he can confirm that Trish is in hospital and very ill with pneumonia currently. At this time, please respect the privacy of the band and the family and when there is any more news he will be sure to update fans."
This reportedly follows a statement posted on Broadcast's Facebook page, in which a woman named Crystal Summers claimed to be Keenan's sister and said that the singer had been on life support after having contracted H1N1.
Her posts appear to have been taken down, but she apparently wrote, "I'm sorry everyone but I have some bad news. Trish Keenan is fighting for her life in hospital. I will keep everyone informed."
Stay tuned for updates, as we will be keeping our eyes peeled for any more announcements from the band or Warp.
