Brand New have become masters of suspense, leaving their fans waiting for six years between 2009's Daisy LP and last year's comeback single "Mene." They've since dropped "I Am a Nightmare" and embarked on a North American tour — only to spark further rumours of their imminent breakup.
Last year, some fans received mysterious postcards reading "R.I.P. 2018," and now that sentiment has re-emerged thanks to the group's freshly unveiled tour merch.
UPDATE (6/3, 4:30 p.m. EDT): As Chorus.fm reports, the band's Jesse Lacey told a Vancouver crowd last night that the band "is not breaking up," despite what their merch might say.
The band revealed a new T-shirt design via Facebook today (June 2) featuring the band's name, a cross made of flowers and the inscription: "2000-2018."
A second design doesn't bode much better, depicting an image of the grim reaper standing over what looks like a dead body with the same dates underneath.
Fans have begun to speculate online about Brand New's impending end — and frankly, it's hard to imagine an alternate meaning to the shirt's message.
There's no word yet on what might still be to come in the next couple calendar years, but we'd recommend getting out and seeing them while you still can.
Their remaining Canadian tour dates are listed below. Beyond those, you give the recent single "I Am a Nightmare" another spin.

06/02 Vancouver, BC - Vogue Theatre
06/04 Edmonton, AB - Union Hall
