Producer Ghislain Poirier recently shared his latest album as Boundary via a Montreal listening session, and now Still Life is also available for us at home.
A press release describes the collection as "electronic chamber music," and this translates into carefully orchestrated synth patterns delivered with minimalist clarity. Opener "Rodinia" begins the album with nothing more that pseudo-marimba plunks backed by some programmed kick drum and shaker. This sets a subtle tone for the album, with danceable grooves mostly foregone in favour of hypnotic loops, burbling bloops, futuristic shimmers and IDM rhythms.
