Original Goo Good Dolls drummer George Tutuska may have missed the gravy train, but he is alive and well and still living in the Queen City. Evidence here suggests that his departure from the band had more to do with personalities than musical direction. Sure, the production and playing on this EP are fairly minimalist and the songs are sung in a snotty adolescent manner à la Dave Lowry or Billie Joe, but its not nearly as “punk” or unmelodic as you might think. What we have here are six engaging songs that reflect that the spirit of why bands get together in the first place. And unlike the songs of his former compadres, not a single one here will be vying for a spot on the next Nic Cage soundtrack.
