Blanck Mass Gets Genesis P-Orridge for New EP, Rolls Out 2016 Dates

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 3, 2015

Fuck Buttons member Benjamin John Power released his Blanck Mass album Dumb Flesh back in the spring, and he spent the summer and fall touring in support of it. Now, the British electronic musician has announced plans to keep on ploughing ahead, as he's unveiled an EP and expanded his tour into 2016.

The new EP is called The Great Confuso. It came out digitally today (November 3) through Sacred Bones, but for those who want a physical copy, some British indie stores will be giving away CDs of The Great Confuso as a bonus for those who buy Dumb Flesh. (That promotion will start on November 13 and run through the end of the year.)

The EP's title track is a three-part, 18-minute epic featuring guest vocals from Genesis P-Orridge (of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV). The four-track EP is rounded out by remixes of three cuts from Dumb Flesh provided by P-Orridge, Dalhous and Konx-Om-Pax, respectively.

A press release explains, "Dark, glorious and by turn pulverizing industrial metal and hypnotic synth-wash soundscape, this is Power's most thrilling work to date. The obsession with human frailty so central to his previous work is focused here on the themes of confusion, anger and surrender. If Dumb Flesh depicted the frailty of the human body, this EP illustrates the fragility of the human mind."

The eight-minute opening part of "The Great Confuso" can be heard at the bottom of this page.
