Last year, we heard Saskatchewan singer-songwriters Blake Berglund and Belle Plaine team up for a 7-inch single, and now the former has decided to stick with the same format for his next release.
Featuring a new pair of songs titled "Word's Gettin' Round" and "Funny Thing About You Leaving," the new single will be heading to radio next week, followed by a vinyl and digital release later this spring. But before any of that, Exclaim! is giving you an advanced listen to both tracks right now.
The pair of tunes was recorded at Hamilton's Catherine North Studios are chock full of bluegrass-y guitar picking and twangy, heartfelt vocals. Berglund worked with producer Aaron Goldstein for the new single, and the songsmith also enlisted some help for the writing process. "Word's Gettin' Round" was a collaborative effort with his band the Vultures, while "Funny Thing About You Leaving" was written alongside Del Barber.
"I'm blessed to be moving into this place of recognition for my writing," Berglund said in a statement about the new material. "My standard is simply to out-write myself and relentlessly shape my craft. I feel very true to the process."
The country-fied couple of songs will be heading to radio on April 25 and getting a limited edition 7-inch single release on May 10, but you can hear them first right here. Just hit play below.
