Bitchin'

The Night Life, The Tight Style

Hailing from the secret punk Mecca of Gainesville, FL, this is something that fans of Superchunk, circa 1992, will likely enjoy. This two-girl, one-guy outfit aim to take their love of melodic indie rock, dress it up in some punk clothes and go to town. They have a talent for writing catchy, hook-laden songs with a healthy dose of bounce to them and there isn’t a throwaway track in this batch of 12. Even the inclusion of what seems to have become a prerequisite on many pop punk records these days, the folksy acoustic number, works. Titled "Smokestacks,” it’s a personal reflection on environmental destruction that ends things off with a wistful touch.
