As part of his ongoing "No Fun Mondays" series, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has shared yet another cover — this time offering his take on "That Thing You Do!"
Today, he has shared a rework of the Adam Schlesinger-written track, which originally appeared in the Tom Hanks-directed 1996 film of the same name.
"Today's song is a tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger and the incredible music he wrote," Armstrong said in a statement.
Schlesinger passed away earlier this month due to coronavirus complications. He was best known for his prolific songwriting and for founding the band Fountains of Wayne.
Following his passing, the cast of That Thing You Do! announced they would be getting back together for a charitable rewatch of the film with money raised from the event going toward MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
