Bike

Take In The Sun

BY Mike BurrowsPublished Mar 1, 2000

It's taken two years for this album to navigate across the world. Sailing on the Flying Nun - New Zealand's foremost independent label - helmsman Andrew Bough imports his band Bike. Irrefutably catchy guitar pop refers to Oasis without the whine and even a little of the glamorous Chainsaw Kittens for the vocals. Bough is consistent in crafting tuneful songs that resonate sweetly. His previous band, Straightjacket Fits, is one of a few New Zealand bands to be signed on an American major, and Bike was nominated for most promising band in 1997 at the Kiwi Juno Awards. After Silverchair, you probably swore never to go down under again, we all make mistakes and it would be a mistake to let Bike ride on by.
