The Fabric brand, for those unaware, runs a monolithic club in London, UK specializing in rough and ready EDM, as well as releasing mixes from a wealth of international DJ and production talent. Never cautious to embrace new and esoteric genres of dance music, Fabric has given the reins for the 67th edition of their FabricLive mix series to Rinse FM DJ and Hessle Audio head honcho Ben UFO. Curiously, Mr. UFO doesn't sideline as a producer like so many of his contemporaries; he is purely dedicated to his craft. And boy does it show on this mix. In Ben UFO's world, "eclectic" isn't a dirty word; he appeals to as many listeners as possible, showing an enlightened understanding of how a dance floor works, the peaks and lulls, the groove stretched out in front of you like a desert road and the ecstasy of the drop all taken into account. Ben UFO has mined 15-plus years of dance floor history to provide a mix that is as close as you can get to standing agape at the booth. Garage, house and techno are twisted into strange new forms over the 70-odd minutes that UFO holds us enthralled for. If you're a fan of any of those aforementioned genres, you owe it to yourself to grab a copy.
