Ben Gibbard has already made a name for himself as the frontman of mega-successful acts Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service, and this fall he will take the solo plunge when he releases his first official full-length under his own name.
The long-player is called Former Lives. It will arrive in North America on October 16 via Barsuk Records, and in Europe the day before via City Slang Records.
A press release notes that the album contains 12 songs culled from an eight-year period. These tracks "didn't find their fully realized form until the songwriter moved from his native Seattle down to Los Angeles." They were recorded at the Ship, a studio owned by friend Aaron Espinoza of Earlimart.
Gibbard will be embarking on a limited selection of tour dates to support the release, but hang tight on those, as the stops have yet to be announced.
