Danceable Vancouver band Bear Mountain have a new album on the way in 2016 through Last Gang, and as we wait for details surrounding new the collection, the band have shared a video for the recent single "Hopeful."
The song takes a live-band approach to electronic disco-pop, as warm keyboard pads envelop the organic rhythms and jabbing synth hooks, while singer-bassist Ian Bevis delivers the melodies in his signature, quavering vibrato. The accompanying visuals were directed by Ben Gulliver, and they show the band performing on a plain white soundstage illuminated by colourful lights and hanging, globular orbs.
Bevis said in a statement, "We made this video wanting to create an interaction between music and visuals in a real space. With the help of a creative team we were able to sync the music with the lights and visuals, and really connect the song with physical objects and visual projections. The song itself started with the chopped vocal sample in the chorus, and we built the music around that. We hope you like it."
Check out the clip below. Bear Mountain will perform at Toronto's Adelaide Hall on December 4.
