We haven't heard new music from Bear in Heaven since 2010's Beast Rest Forth Mouth: Remixed, so we're about ready for some fresh material for these Brooklyn electronic rock enthusiasts. Right on cue, the band have just confirmed plans to drop their third full-length, I Love You, It's Cool, on April 3 via Dead Oceans/Hometapes.
Speaking with Spin, frontman Jon Philpot said of the new album, "There's more groove, less doom. Like Don Henley, but more psychedelic."
He also revealed that there are plenty of autobiographical lyrics on the ten-song collection, explaining, "I take a lot of liberty on this album to talk to people I haven't talked to in a while. If I don't feel a little odd or uncomfortable about it, I know it's not honest enough."
The album was produced by David Wrench, who has previously worked with artists like Bat for Lashes, Beth Orton and Fanfarlo. Recording is now in the bag, so Bear in Heaven will be spending the months leading up to release planning album art, making videos and rehearsing for live shows. Scroll down to see their tour 2012 dates, which include stops in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.
If you're looking for a preview of music from the album, then you're in luck, sort of. The entire is currently streaming over at their official website, the twist being that it's slowed down by close to 400,000 percent.
