Beanfield

Seek

It’s nu-jazz, no doubt about it — nor about the quality of the record itself. The third LP from the group, now composed of Jan Krause and Michael Mettke, is a polished mix that takes its cues equally from Germany and West London. Consider the hearty stabilising bass line of the 7/8 time "Mr. Park,” or the broken beats and soft electro whip of "Vertigoheel.” No one should be shocked if "Home,” featuring Bajka on striking vocals, becomes a soft broken beat classic. Making a sleek and casual R&B mark on a few cuts is vocalist Ernesto, whose largely cheese ball lyrics are tempered and even made credible by his disarming voice. While this record won’t knock you off your feet, it might charm you into a nice night cap if you let it.
