Years after they were forced to cancel a performance that would have marked their Canadian debut, BEAK> — the experimental rock trio of Portishead's Geoff Barrow, Billy Fuller and Will Young — have made plans to return to the country in 2022.
This September, BEAK> will play the inaugural Los Angeles edition of Primavera Sound, and the band have added shows in Toronto, New York City and San Francisco to pad out the month's itinerary.
The Canadian date will see the trio play Lee's Palace in Toronto on September 19. Tickets for the band's lone show in the country go on sale to the general public tomorrow (May 20), with further information here.
"It's four years since BEAK> last came to play in the USA & Canada," bassist Billy Fuller told Brooklyn Vegan, "and our only Canada show sadly got cancelled due to a family illness last time, so to be able to come to Toronto is going to be extra special for us as we've never played Canada before."
He added, "We're sorry we couldn't play more places this time around but we promise next year, with new material coming out, we'll be back to play some more cities in the US, Canada and anywhere else that will have us."
