BC's Motion Notion Festival Rolls Out Initial 2017 Lineup

Headliners include Datsik, Avalon and Dirtyphonics

Golden, BC's Motion Notion festival is set to return for its 18th edition this summer, and ahead of taking over Beaverfoot Lodge once more, organizers have revealed the initial lineup.

Headliners for this year's festival, which takes place from August 24 to 28, are Datsik, Avalon, Dirtyphonics, Koan Sound and the M Machine. New to the festival this year is a beachside stage, upgraded glamping options and an expanded performance lineup featuring "fire dancers, contortionists, hypnotists, magicians, aerialists, comedians, yogis, and workshop luminaries."

The festival will also play host to (in alphabetical order) 80Fitz, Abstrakt Sonance, Amani, Au5, Avalon, Birds of Paradise, Cheshire, Christian Martin, CloZee, D-Funk, Defunk, Desert Dwellers, Doctor Werewolf, Drunken Masters, Flatland Funk, Flavours, Fort Knox Five, Grouch, Inf1n1te, IYFFE, John 00 Flemming, K+Lab, Kalya Scintilla & Eve Olution Kaminanda, Kytami, Landswitcher, Longwalkshortdock, Mark Instinct, Marten Hørger, Merkaba Minnesota, Neighbor, Neon Steve, Peep This, Perkulat0r, PhaseOne, Quanta & Akasha, S.P.Y. Shadow FX, Shlump, ShockOne, Slynk, Smalltown DJs, Space Jesus, Staunch, Stickybuds, the Funk Hunters, Tom Collins, Treavor Moontribe, Whitebear and Worthy.

A full lineup announcement will come on May 15.

"We've brought the strongest team together to combine brand new transformational experiences with one of our best lineups to date to really take this festival to new heights," festival director Kevin Harper said in a statement. "The collective efforts of our MoNo family have come together to deliver a beautiful and unique environment, and this year will by far top them all."

A weekend pass to the festival is priced at $269 plus fees, with an early entry pass can be had for $299 plus fees. Further details on other ticket tiers can be found on the festival website here.
