Though the details are few and far between, post-rock experimentalists Battles have revealed that they're currently putting work into a new album, their first proper full-length in three years.
Murmurings of activity began in March, when the group posted over Facebook promising to give updates on the progress of the follow-up to 2011's Gloss Drop sometime soon over Twitter. Today (April 25), Battles swapped social media forums to tweet out a shadowy, ill-lit photograph showing off some gear, which features the caption, "Yes, the windows are dusty, but let this serve as evidence of a new record being made."
Who knows when the band will complete their as-yet-untitled third full-length offering, but it at least appears as if we can expect it sometime in the near future. This will be the second album featuring the lineup of drummer John Stanier, guitarist/keyboardist Ian Williams and guitarist David Konopka, following the departure of founding member Tyondai Braxton in 2010.
While the band's last proper studio set was Gloss Drop, Battles did issue a remix album for those songs the following year as Dross Glop.
