Barzin

Barzin

BY I. KhiderPublished Mar 1, 2002

Barzin has released an album of ballads and sentimental songs that move as slowly and serenely as clouds across a dusky summer sky. Barzin croons passionately to lap-steel guitars, bass and mere accents from the drums, while his lyrics unfurl as dreamily as music from Mazzy Star or Bruce Cockburn, in his more intimate moments. Barzin finely crafts his songs, lyrically and instrumentally, so that each tune shines like a gem. In the future, however, Barzin might want to consider playing more up-tempo songs in order to contrast the weighty emotions, thus leaving the listener more vulnerable to his expression. For those looking for a romantic album to give their loved one on Valentine's Day, look no further than Barzin.
