Back to the Future is such a genius piece of pop filmmaking that it's a mystery why it's taken so much time for a game to continue its legacy. Though set immediately after the third film, the five-episode game begins in the parking lot where Doc Brown first shows Marty McFly the flux capacitor-bedecked Deloreon and soon we're off on another rollicking time-travel adventure, this time to Prohibition-era Hill Valley. While it certainly hits many of the same familiar plot tropes from the films, it is, after all, a time-travel franchise. And it's a blast hearing Christopher Lloyd as Doc, not to mention the amazing guy voicing a young Michael J Fox. While a proper now-gen game would be amazing, it's rather appropriate that this old-school game feels brought back from 1985, with its adherence to the point-and-click adventure format. The debut has a great cartoon look and an enjoyable, if not super-challenging, design, but will need to step up its game in subsequent episodes to compete with the first two films. Still, I enjoyed myself immensely ― TellTale nailed my feelings by titling the game's first chapter "It's About Time."
