It feels blasphemous that Avril Lavigne got a star on Hollywood Boulevard before being inducted into the Canada Walk of Fame, but it's better late than never, right?
Lavigne joins the newly-revealed Canada Walk of Fame inductees, including award-winning Indigenous actress Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon and Dances with Wolves), broadcast mogul/philanthropist Gary Slaight of the Slaight Family Foundation, and Roots Canada co-founders Michael Budman and Don Green.
The five new inductees are a part of the 25th anniversary Walk of Fame class that already includes the previously announced Rick Mercer, Connor McDavid and Degrassi TV franchise.
Additionally, an induction ceremony of Rock of Fame artists — including April Wine, Glass Tiger, and Chilliwack, among others — will take place at Massey Hall on September 28, ahead of the Walk of Fame ceremony.
Walk of Fame organizers have shared that there will be more inductees announced ahead of the official celebration set to take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on December 2. Tickets for the event are available here.
