Austra's Olympia is due out on June 18 via Paper Bag/Domino, and the Toronto synth-creeps have shared a new track with "Painful Like."
This cut features Austra's signature blend of thudding dance beats, shadowy synths and operatic vocals. A press release explains, "Influenced by early Chicago house music when dance music was performed with a live band, 'Painful Like' too was performed live in the studio free of any programming or loops. While the lyrics may deal with the disillusionment of growing up gay in a small town and finding solace in the arms of a lover, it's bubbly and buoyant and reflects that Olympia is fundamentally a dance record."
