Austin Lace

Austin Lace from Nivelles, Belgium won a battle of the bands and got three days to blow in the studio. The resulting demo is here, as is. Mistakenly touted as dream pop, drudge pop would be more accurate. The small label has this sweet liner note — “We kiss you for buying a 62 TV record!” Don’t be lead astray by such flirtatious enticements. Don’t accept their weak Pavement-esque, too little, too late attempt at pop rock. Perhaps if they had come in second and resolved to rehearse and rewrite their little buns off for next years battle. Perhaps not.
