Assemblage 23

Storm

BY Mike AdairPublished Dec 1, 2004

There is not much to say about this latest Assemblage 23 release. It clearly stands as good electro-industrial music — good, but not great. Sure Tom Shear’s one-man efforts serve up tight synth-pop sounds and melancholic vocals, but this release will most likely fill up time on a DJ’s set list rather than grace anyone’s best of compilations. Actually, the most notable track is the melodically, sorrow-filled "30KFT,” and it is unfortunate that Shear does not show this side more often. The music presented in Storm is still better than many other shadowy dance releases. It is just not good enough to be unforgettable.
